    The Spicer Jeffries Internship program is offered to students in their Junior and Senior year of college, who are looking to build a career in Public Accounting. During this internship you will gain real world experience in cutting edge industry, learn business skills and expand your network. Our internships also hold the possibility of a full-time job.

    New Staff Accountant – CO & FL

    Job Description

    Spicer Jeffries LLP is currently seeking qualified graduating candidates to become staff accountants at both the firm’s Denver, CO headquarters and its new branch office in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. Audit provides one of the finest and fastest forms of business education imaginable, and an understanding of taxation applies across industries and entities. As a first year staff accountant, career progression may be rapid, as responsibility is given very early on. You will be exposed to each dynamic of an audit engagement; the audit and preparation of financial statements, the taxation of the entity, and the interpersonal contact with the client. This allows you to see the “big picture” and to develop a complete understanding of the client, laying the foundation for your professional career.

    We encourage all candidates to pursue a CPA accreditation, but it is not mandatory for application or employment.

    As a staff accountant at Spicer Jeffries your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Preparation of audit work papers

    Audit Senior Accountant

    Job Description

    Spicer Jeffries LLP provides audit, accounting, tax and consulting services to a variety of industries. We have a specialized practice and expertise in the securities industry that includes security broker-dealers, hedge funds, commodity pools, registered investment advisors, and other investment entities. Providing professional services to these types of companies requires a unique understanding of their regulated environment and the peculiar tax rules and regulations.

    Our expanding practice has created the need to add another Audit Senior Accountant.  The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, ambitious, well versed in audit theory as well as have the ability to prepare and review a variety of financial audits.  The Audit Senior is given more difficult assignments and greater responsibilities. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

    As a senior audit accountant at Spicer Jeffries your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Work on more complicated segments of audit and accounting engagements.
    • Assume full responsibility (under supervision) for any engagements involving audited, reviewed, or compiled financial statements.
    • Supervise and train staff accountants.
    • Perform research for accounting and audit engagements.
    • Prepare for and pass the CPA examination, if eligible and not already completed.
    • Conduct and supervise field work.
    • Review and analyze internal control.
    • Review all workpapers and financial statements before submission to manager for further review.
    • Look for opportunities to provide additional services to clients.
    • Plan engagements to achieve quality goals and reduce time required to perform an engagement.
    • Prepare audit programs and time budgets.
    • Prepare management letters.

    Job Qualifications

    • Three to four years of public accounting with an emphasis in auditing.
    • Solid understanding of auditing principles and proficiency in partnership, corporation and individual entities and compliance.
    • An undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, and/or an undergraduate or graduate degree with sufficient course work to achieve CPA certification upon passing the examination.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter, ambitious, well versed in a variety of tax law and have the ability to prepare and review a variety of types of tax returns. We offer a competitive salary commensurate with experience.

    As a senior tax accountant at Spicer Jeffries your primary responsibilities will include:

    • Provide proactive high quality tax services to clients
    • Prepare intermediate and advanced tax returns and gain experience in various areas of taxation.
    • Supervise and review tax work performed by staff, provide feedback and keep managers informed as to staff performance.
    • Identify opportunities to improve the client’s operations, tax position and accounting process.
    • Conduct tax research and communicate findings to supervisors.
    • Recognize and inform managers and partners of opportunities to increase and improve services provided to clients.
    • Use technology to efficiently prepare tax returns, conduct tax research, share information with team members and provide quality client service.

    Job Qualifications

    • Three to four years of public accounting with an emphasis in taxation.
